The Bedside Cot 6 Months Plus Awards: The Top, Worst, Or The Most Unlikely Things We've Seen

Bedside Cot 6 Months Plus

Bedside sleepers allow you to keep your baby in the same room with you without the dangers of sharing a bed. They are also a great choice for newborns.

Look for models that have an adjustable height that will fit perfectly on most bed frames. Also, look for breathable fabrics that are easy to clean.

Safety

A bedside cot is described as a bassinet that is connected to the side of a bed for safe sleeping. It is a great way to lift baby up towards you at night to feed or soothing. it's also a great choice for an c-section. It is different from a Moses Basket or Cot because it has high walls, so your baby cannot be pushed out. Some come with a tilt feature that can aid babies with reflux and colic. They are also slightly bigger than Moses baskets which makes them easier to move from room to room.

The NHS and the safe sleep charity The Lullaby Trust advise that newborns should be placed in their own bassinet or cot in the same room with their parent but not in your bed. This is due to bed sharing increasing the chance of suffocation and overheating. Bedside cribs give you the best of both worlds, allowing your baby to be close to you throughout the night, but in their own secure and private sleeping space.

Check that the crib meets the most recent safety standards. It should be BS EN1130:2019. Also, ensure that there aren't any gaps or parts where your baby could get trapped. Choose a mattress that has an even, firm surface. A sagging mattress or one that is too soft could increase the risk of SIDS for your baby.

Find bedding that is fitted and without pillows or blankets that are loose. Duvets and pillows can suffocate your baby, and pillows can get stuck to their face. Use a fitted sheet but ensure that it fits properly.

The SnuzPod4 was highly rated by our MFM mom testers as a crib for bedside use. It has been nominated for the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards in the category of the Best Cot, Moses Basket or Crib. It is securely attached to the bed and it is adjustable to ensure a perfect fit. It has a rocking feature and can be set to an inclined position to prevent reflux. It is also a great choice for those who have narrow or small beds, as it does not take up much space.

Design

It is essential to think about the style of your crib at night, as this will be the place where your baby will spend the majority of their time. There are many cribs available in a variety of colors to suit your decor and include features such as mesh windows that keep baby in view, or side panels that drop down that allow you to reach it. Some cribs also have incline features to aid in reflux.

You can raise and lower the majority of cribs to your bed height, making it easier to get into and out of the bed. You can also find a few that are made to work as travel cribs, which are ideal when you're traveling or visiting relatives.

Leya Leya, an MFM mother and home tester, discovered that the SnuzPod 4 was a great design for her bedroom. She also liked its compact fold that saved space. She also liked that the crib's one side drops down, allowing her to take her newborn baby to bed without leaving her bed. This is particularly helpful if you've had an Caesarean or are recovering after one. You can remain close to your baby for longer.

Another mom who loved using the SnuzPod 4 was Jasmine, who commented that it was easy to move from room room, something she didn't discover with other cribs for bedside that she tried. She did note that the handle was stiff and it took a lot of effort to raise the crib.

Another crib that's easy to fold and move is the Tutti Bambini CoZee Air, which was shortlisted for the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards to be the The Best Cot Crib, Moses Basket. The neutral colours and slim frame are perfect for the majority of bedrooms. However some of our testers felt that the bars were too close to each other. This could cause them to get caught on baby toys or clothes. The distance between bars should be no more than 6.5cm (2.5 inches) to ensure your baby's head isn't entangled. This is a good crib for babies who have reflux, as its ComfortAir breathing technology helps regulate their temperature.

Comfort

Keeping your baby close all night will give you peace of mind, however, you should be in a position to be able to get them quickly for middle-of-the-night feeding. You can easily accomplish this without having to get up from bed by having a crib by your bedside. These cribs make it simple to help babies sleep. If you'd like to be able to sleep with your child but do not want to hassle with getting up every time they're fed, a moses-basket is a good option.

The majority of cribs for bedside use can be attached to the bed's side, allowing you to see and get to your baby easily. Most have mesh windows to allow you to monitor your baby without disrupting him. They might also have a reflux setting to help with reflux or colic.

This crib comes with a wide range of options, but we're particularly amazed by the ComfortAir breathable Mattress that regulates the temperature of your baby's body and maximizes airflow. It's a little smaller than other cribs for bedside use and can be useful where space is limited. But our mum testers all agree that it's still a great option for those long nights.

The cot is secured to the side of your bed with adjustable straps, which reduces the risk of gaps that your child might get trapped. It comes with a flat, firm mattress that is safe and promotes good sleep habits.

It is important to be aware that your baby is likely to leave their crib when they are able to sit upright typically about six months old. It is essential to place your child in a cot or another sleeping arrangement, once they outgrow their crib.

A cot that is light and suitable for travel is a further feature to consider. Some of our mothers love that this crib can easily be disassembled to transport it however, others aren't able to put it together. It can be difficult to clean so you will have to clean it often using an appropriate cleaning product and cloth.

Stores

A bedside cot 6 months plus is an upholstered bassinet cot that can be fixed to the bed's side to ensure safe co-sleeping. These are great for calming babies to sleep, for night feedings and allowing mums who had a csection to keep their baby close.

When selecting a crib that is bedside, it's important to make sure that it meets current safety standards. Verify that  bedside travel cot  are enough apart to avoid your child's head from getting stuck, and make sure any drop-down sides are secure and won't pop open suddenly. Also, beware of any stickers or transfers on the cot surface as they could pose an choking hazard.

Emily's preferred bedside cot for her baby is the Next2me Magic. It was selected for the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards in the categories of Best Crib or Cot and Best Moses Basket. It is a good size, with plenty of space for all your baby's essentials. It's also compact and light enough to be able to fit into a travel bag if you're planning to move it around. If you want something simpler her recommendation is Shnuggle Air in addition to Crib.
